The Seagate 1tb internal hard drive (HDD) can last for years if properly maintained. Consequently, you will have to sacrifice speed for storage capacity.
- Very Durable lasts long
- Lots of Storage Capacity
- Slow compared to solid state drives
- Bulkier than solid state drives
The Durable Barracuda
One of the most impressive features of the Seagate 1tb internal hard drive is its durability. I had my Seagate drive for over four years.
As a result, I’ve been passing down the drive from my old computers to the new ones. Part of its success is that I properly maintain my Barracuda drive.
Note: Running the hard disk defragmentation program often can wear out your drive.
To my surprise, the Seagate Barracuda hard drive is relatively quiet. In a silenced room you may slightly hear the mechanical parts moving.
A Hard Drive with a Good Warranty
You can store tons of images, media, and files into the Barracuda drive. Also, you can purchase Seagate HDD’s with massive storage capabilities.
While the Seagate HDD’s offer hefty storage, they lack in speed. Comparing my Samsung 850 EVO SSD with the Barracuda HDD, the 850 EVO is much faster.
“Once you’ve used a solid state drive, there’s no turning back.” While this saying is valid, let’s talk about price and warranty.
The price for a 1TB solid state drive (SSD) can be quite high. On the other hand, you can buy two HDD’s for the price of one SSD.
On top of that, many modern HDD’s are backed by a three or more years warranty. I know, and manufacturers know that HDD’s can last for years.
Although the Seagate 1tb barracuda hard drive comes with a warranty, adding a second coverage is inexpensive.
Overall, if you plan on using it frequently, it would be smart to invest in a good warranty.
