How to Test a Modem for Network Trouble

To test a modem, you will need to run different assessments on your network.

You can’t just plug in any modem and assume it will work.

Installing a new modem requires a little time and patience. 

There can be bumps along the way, and you’ll need to test it out in order to make sure it’s functioning well with your internet.

Try Using Your Internet

This is going to be your most obvious starting point.

However, if you find that your Internet is searching continuously or is just unable to pull anything up, you may need to move onto the next step to determine why.

Run a Diagnostic Test

For those who have a Windows PC, it can be brought up by heading to Start, Settings, Network and Internet, and then status. 

Typically, this area will offer you the ability to test your connection.

When you run the diagnosis, it will show you where the problem is located. 

In some cases, it might be in the connection from the modem to the computer or with the network itself. 

This is a great starting point for getting the problem resolved, and can let you know which cords to double-check.

Test a Modem for Connection Speed

You may get your modem setup and find that you are getting access to the Internet, but not very quickly.

Try Out Your Wi-Fi
